Position Description

We are looking for a passionate Sr. Director of Business Intelligence & Analytics to lead a new business group within Ryder. In this role you will build a team focused on expanding our capabilities around data analysis and intelligent business modeling. You and your team will strategically support business development, initiatives, as well as existing operations with Business Intelligence and Analytics.

 

The Sr. Director of Business Intelligence & Analytics will be responsible for developing and providing leadership to analytics team members who perform the analysis, reporting, and tool development necessary to support Ryder’s Supply Chain Excellence group. You will be responsible to enhance and facilitate growth of processes/procedures associated with analysis and optimization, metrics, and knowledge of activities while assuring quality and consistency across the team’s deliverables.  To be successful, you must have strong hands on management skills, knowledge of complex analysis, data structure, transportation / logistics, and management as well as exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and perform (as necessary) all analysis and optimization required to support Supply Chain Excellence business
  • Model, analyze and compare various supply chain scenarios using supply chain optimization tools
  • Research, select and recommend scenario which is the most profitable and executable from business perspective and project cost/savings impact for the future state supply chain
  • Communicate with internal and external customer to understand the business model and obtain current state costs
  • Coordinate with key stake holders and help in developing strategies, assumptions and supply chain analysis deliverables
  • Responsible for effectively selling supply chain change recommendation to internal/external customers
  • Ensure all existing documentation/training materials are current as well as develop new documentation/training materials as needed; direct and monitor workload for team(s) to ensure timely and accurate analysis; Leading and directing the development of tools and reporting related to Supply Chain Analysis.
  • Participate in the interviewing, hiring, and lead training of Analytics team members
  • Lead and coach Analytics team members for employee professional development
  • Proactively developing ideas to continue the improvement of business processes as related to the Supply Chain Excellence.
  • Expert in accessing Ryder’s data relevant to Supply Chain Excellence and serve as business matter expert in supply chain designing, modeling and analysis (+)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or Logistics or a minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience
  • 10 or more years related experience in Supply Chain within at least one of the following disciplines: Engineering, Quality, Project Management, Lean Six Sigma or Operations
  • At least 5 years experience supervising employees
  • Multiple operational product experience in Dedicated Contract Carriage, Distribution, and Transportation Management
  • Knowledge of cost/pricing strategies with a strong financial acumen
  • Green Belt Certification attainment is required within 12 months in the position

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Masters Degree strongly preferred in Engineering or Logistics
  • Green Belt Certification, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and control activities to ensure delivery of Engineering, Quality and Program Management engagements to respond to ever changing demand signals
  • Interact with assigned internal and external customers and prospects to provide strategic solution development and execution
  • Oversee the implementation of work standards and results
  • Participate in regular business review sessions with VP of Operations, SES Central team, and customers
  • Regularly interacts with executives in both internal and external customers using negotiation or influencing skills regarding matters of significance to the organization
  • Responsible for ensuring assigned unit meets or exceeds budget (ASL) targets
  • Facilitates an environment of creative learning and thinking in an atmosphere of open communication and team work
  • Responsible for selection, retention, performance management, and rotation assignments
  • Oversee continuous improvement recommendations for customers to ensure they are in addition to account maintenance improvements
