Position Description

The Group Director, Analytics, Products, & Innovation will lead and manage the analytics team as well as the product development & innovation teams focused on identifying, evaluating and progressing new products, markets and incremental capabilities that contribute to growth and margin improvements. They will work directly with the customer and business owner to identify new ideas and collaborate across verticals, regions, and functional areas to create, develop and implement solutions. The individual will oversee the product development process, governance, prioritization and coordination of current and future initiatives, as well as, lead the development and deployment of new & incremental capabilities that drive business growth, improved efficiencies and bottom line margin. The Group Director, Analytics, Products, & Innovation will develop relations and act as the primary point of communication with vertical leaders, business sponsors and support functions for all product development initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Master's degree in related field or MBA preferred
  • Ten (10) years or more of experience in business planning, strategy development, competitive analysis and financial analysis
  • Ten (10) years or more of experience in logistics, operations, engineering or solution development preferred
  • Ten (10) years or more of demonstrated experience in new product development preferred
  • Five (5) years or more of experience with global business practices affecting the supply chain
  • Eight (8) years or more of experience with or ability to understand commercial implications of solutions proposed, potential areas of risk and methods to limit liability
  • Eight (8) years or more of experience in financial business case analysis to help support targeted return on investment
  • Ten (10) years or more of demonstrated success in assessing, developing and deploying new offerings or incremental enhancements
  • Demonstrated skills in organizational group process, problem identification and resolution at both a strategic and functional level
  • Strong planning, time management, collaboration, decision making, organization and presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility to operate, and self-driven to excel, in a fast-paced environment
  • Capable of multi-tasking and highly organized, with excellent time management skills
  • Detail-oriented with excellent follow up practices
  • Ability to:
    • Analyze and help develop competitive and profitable pricing strategies
    • Articulate issues, present “pros and cons” and provide solutions to next supervisor level
    • Travel to domestic and international client locations in North America (United States, Canada and Mexico)
    • Create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, and supervisors)
    • Work independently and as a member of a team
  • Knowledge of:
    • Project management methodology with a focus on managing solution driven strategy plans to achieve goals (proficient level)
    • Supply chain management and third party logistics industries (advanced level)

Responsibilities

  • Drive the process through quickly assessing product strategies by understanding needs, satisfaction drivers, performance requirements and business case throughout the value chain/channel structure
  • Function as the product expert for selective product development initiatives including ownership of definition/specifications product positioning, features/benefits communication, product training, and transition to operational management
  • Manage and develop the product development team and process, including new innovation research, idea submission and product development prioritization process     
  • Support the strategic business planning process with strategy that will support vertical product development priorities
  • Serve as the primary contact for vertical development, marketing steering committee and executive committee
  • Monitor industry, technology and business trends to identify opportunities, threats and benchmark competitive products to identify sources of competitive advantage
  • Share best practices and learning across verticals
